Abstract

The proposal attempts a study of the novel Belve by Alda Teodorani. The study focuses on two aspects: the first is the hybridity of literary genres in the text, which presents an interpolation of science-fiction, horror and thriller writing styles. This overlapping is analysed as connected to the Italian ‘Cannibali’ literary group and compared to the ‘slipstream’ literary label. The second aspect is the hybridity as a theme, which is extensively debated in Belve through the use of different elements that are typical of the supernatural and speculative fiction, such as the presence of aliens, vampires, and trans-human technologies.
